GRAPOS (Grupo de Asesores de Producción Orgánica y Sustentable S.C.) formed in 2007 as a collective of 90 farmers. The group now has 3,253 member farmers and includes microregions of Soconusco, Siltepec, Porvenir and Tapachula within Chiapas. There is a growing percentage of women producers within GRAPOS, many of whom own or have inherited the farms. This lot selects a portion of coffee from these farms and pays a premium for the women's contributions. The GRAPOS co-op encourages all producers to diversify their sources of income by growing other agricultural products, such as banana, squash, beans, cacao, and corn. The women also focus on textile production for additional earning power.

We purchased this coffee believing that it will allow the women of GRAPOS to increase their production and invest in projects within their communities and families.
